Buying furs in Russia

I am going to Moscow and St. Petersburg in March/April. I have been told you can buy full length mink coats for a very reasonable price. Does anyone have any info about buying minks? Where/How much?

Whatever you save you will still have to pay customs taxes on it when you bring it home...

Why not let the minks keep their skins.. instead of killing them so you can wear them and try to act like you're really hot.

Don't recommend to bring anything expensive from Russia - you'll get grilled real bad when going through the customs, and noone's going to help you. You maybe asked to pay a rediculously high tax (part of which will become a bribe to the customs officer) for the purchased stuff.

They may be more affordable in Russia, but what about the styles? The Russian women that I have seen around the NY metropolitan region wear these big bulky long furs that scream the "outt atown" look-perhaps you should save your pennies and go for something made in America so you will look less like a wannabee.

Hi I do have a friend in Moscow and I will email her today. I do know however that most Russians go to Greece to buy furs (apparantly it is cheaper). I hope she responds quickly. I do know that if you are a Westerner they may try to sell it for more than you should pay. It may be worth it to have a Russian with you. Anyway I will followup.

I go along with Minky. There are many good looking fakes these days.
