buying euros

With the dollar plummeting, I have a general question about buying euros. I am going to spain on April 1. Do you think I should buy euros here now or when I get there?
thanks!

In order for it to be cheaper for you to buy Euros in the US before you travel, the dollar would have to drop another 6-7% in the next 1 week.

If you think that will happen, then buy Euros tomorrow. If you don't, then wait till you get to Europe and use ATM card to withdraw cash directly from your account.

Unless you specifically want the comfort of arriving with local currency already in your wallet, wait and use your ATM card after you arrive.

The dollar is getting weaker but I don't think it will take that big a nose dive in the next few days. Just use your ATM card when you get there.

Make sure your bank allows for withdrawals on the ATM card in Spain. Mine does not because of security reasons in Spain. I am able to use it in other EU countries. They told me you can use it if a signature can be done. Not ATM withdrawals. Just check, it would be horrible to get there and not be able to use it. Always a good idea to notify your bank and credit card company when traveling abroad anyway.
