Buying Dansko Shoes in Paris

We are leaving for Paris on Saturday, and the 10-day weather forecast does not look promising! I built my travel clothes and shoes around the thought that late May - early June would be be warm - not rainy and cool. Instead of trying to stuff another pair of shoes into my bag, I thought I'd use the weather as an excuse to buy a new pair of shoes!

Can anyone provide any suggestions where to find Dansko shoes in Paris? (We'll be staying in the 9th arrondissement.) By the way, we are only taking carry-on luggage on our way to Europe; that's why I'm not trying to stuff another pair of shoes in my bag... Thanks!

I don't think they sell them on the continent, at least I have never seen them.

Perhaps you could try out a European brand??

Well, I would take another pair of shoes. Besides the time it takes to go shopping, then you have a brand-new pair of shoes to wear. I only travel with shoes that are fairly well worn. I'd take less clothes and make room for another pair. Be sure to wear your bulkiest pair on the plane.

I don't understand the logic of this but there is a good Ecco/Mephisto shop on rue Cler.
You might consider the rate of exchange for the Euro and the amount you may have to pay there as opposed to Zappo's or shoes.com here.

I agree with the others that it would be best to take a pair you already have. The last thing you want to be doing is walking in a new pair of shoes all day to break them in. Plus, there's no guarantee that you will find shoes in Paris either.

For me, shoe shopping takes quite a while because I try on lots of different styles to find the one that feels best on my foot. Do you want to spend your time in Paris doing that?

Thanks for your replies! You're probably right; I'll either try to pack another pair or make the tough decision to leave a pair at home.

It's tough packing for damp, cool Paris and hot, sunny Provence!

I hope you read this before you leave, but Paris right now is neither damp nor cool. We're having magnificent weather -- hope it holds for you.

I'm glad that you are having wonderful weather in Paris right now! However, every online weather service is predicting cool and damp weather all week. If for some reason the weather improves, great! We will have warm-weather clothes with us for the second half of our trip to Provence!
