Buying Cheese in Florence

I wanted to take some cheese home from Italy, and our last stop is Florence.

Does anyone know a great cheese shop that will vacuum pack the cheese?

Do you love Lucy? Remember how she brought cheese to USA? First she wrapped a blanket around it, then when it didn't work she tried to eat it all with the help of Ethel. When this didn't work she "turned for help" to her husband's orchestra. :->

There are many shops that you can buy great cheese already vacuum packed. You can also go to Mercato Centrale. There are many cheese vendors there and it's fun to walk around. I've purchased cheese in quite a few shops and the Mercato and never been disappointed.

Another vote for the Mercato Centrale.

You can also get olive oil, wine, dried porcini mushrooms and salt packed anchovies.

You can purchase parmesan cheese in the duty free shop at the airport, also. Haven't tried it, but it is okay to bring back to the U.S.
