Buying Campers shoes in Rome
 

I'm going to Rome in October and want to buy some Campers bowling shoes immediately. Does anyone know where to get them? I'll be staying in the Piazza del Popolo/Spanish Steps area.

Oops. I didn't mean immediately as in now, but immediately upon my arrival in Rome.

Andi - <BR>Why don't you just go to your local bowling alley, rent a pair of shoes and never eturn them. It's probably cheaper.

I can't give you names of stores, but if you head towards Via del Corso between Piazza del Popolo and Via Condotti, you'll find plenty of shoe stores. I saw the kind of shoes you mean in the little shoe stores between Largo Argentina and Campo de fiori, too, when I was there last month.

What Karen said; there are a lot of shoe stores on the Via del Corso, near the Piazza del Popolo, close to where you're staying. We saw these shoes in every store window but, interestingly, we didn't see all that many people wearing them. <BR> <BR>Funny that these seem to be so popular in Europe now. Bowling shoes -- actual bowling shoes -- have been a hip item in vintage clothing stores for years in the U.S.

Capo- Get ready for them! They are everywhere in New York this summer. I have always found that New York is about a season behind Europe in fashion trends (ie. Burberry plaid). And that the rest of America is behind New York by about the same. My guess is that Campers will hit your neck of the woods by autumn

We won't see these shoes here in Central Pennsylvania until next year at the earliest!

Tommy, while I'd agree with you that New York is probably usually behind Europe in fashion trends, in this case Europe was behind the U.S....or at least behind hipsters in Seattle (and probably elsewhere), who have been wearing bowling shoes for years.

No sightings in San Francisco yet.

For everybody, <BR>There is a Camper shoe store in Soho, NYC. The store has been open for about 2 years or so. Bowling-type shoes are not a new thing in NYC. My husband and I bought a couple of pairs about a year and a half ago. They are extremely comfortable Spanish shoes! <BR>

Buy them in Spain if you can... <BR>about $75 bux or so, thats half <BR>of what they cost here in NYC. <BR>
