Neopolitan - ??? Paris Attitude #114
Neo - can you tell me about your stay at the apartment in Paris - Paris Attitude #114? Was it all you expected - quiet at night, etc? We are hoping to book it for a week in May and would like to hear more about it. Thanks!

Our stop at home between the Europe trip and our present California one was so short, I failed to post any full trip reports.
We LOVED the apartment. We knew going in what the area is like, and it is right above one of those cheap Greek restaurants. I had worried the noise and perhaps smells would bother us. Oddly the only smells we ever got was some sort of wonderful cinnamon baking thing often in the morning -- no idea where that was coming from. There was little to no noise through the two sets of windows to the street only one floor below. And there is a third window, plus some in the hallway to a quiet "courtyard" of the building. I must say when we opened the street windows the noise was pretty major, especially during the evening, but thankfully the apartment was air-conditioned and appreciated in July. If staying there in fairer weather and if you wanted to keep the windows open, you probably couldn't even watch TV. The AC was a major issue for us and it really worked very well!
The pictures are very accurate. The place is actually larger than it appears. I've never done a studio before, but the bed off to it's own sort of alcove meant we had lots of room -- seemingly bigger than a couple of the one bedroom places we rented on this same trip.
The kitchen is minute, but that was fine for us. There is a dishwasher, and also a clothes washer (but only a dryer rack, not a dryer).
The owners live in Cannes and called a couple days after our arrival to make sure everything was fine. We were met by a woman who lives upstairs. She spoke about 5 words of English which matched my speaking ability in French. It was like a wild game of charades as she walked us through showing us how everything worked.
Lee ended up leaving his watch in the apartment, but the owners found it and mailed it back to us -- no charge.
I can't wait to go back and will certainly stay there again. I think it's a tremendous bargain for a place with a lot of character.
Any questions?

Neo - thanks so much for your reply! Just the information we wanted to hear! Sounds like a great place to say - can't wait! Only question I can think of - is the air conditioning individually controlled? If we can't open the windows in the middle of May because of noise, in case it is stuffy, can we use the air? Thank you so much for all the information you provided - certainly makes me want to rent this place. This will be our first time to rent an apartment, so it really helps to get first hand information.
