Buy plane tickets now for Italy in December?

We're planning to fly to Venice Dec. 14, and home to LAX from Rome Dec. 23. I've seen nice short flights (14 hrs 35 minutes) on Delta for $952 per person.

No crystal ball...don't know if I should book now or wait for a possible winter bargain airfare. I will book hotels next week, since it's the holiday season, but I wish I knew if I should wait on the airfare. On the other hand, I don't want to get stuck with any of those 20 hour trips!

Ideas?

I would not wait. You've clearly stated which is your greater priority (and why shouldn't it be?)

Best wishes,

Rex

For December?? I booked hotels 8 months ahead & was glad I did since they were selling out 3 or 4 months before we were going. Is it a non-stop flight? I'd jump on it.

Considering that our last airfare was $800 Atlanta to Italy on Delta. I would say that for LAX to Italy, your $950 is not too bad.

Also your December 23rd return may be costing you above average. Rates spike up for the christmas period.

Grab it. Your chances of much better are small. And do you want the anxiety of waiting to save $50 - and find out the prices have gone up?

Thank you, all. It's true, traveling during the schools' winter break is costing me plenty. I'll go ahead and book.
