Sherry - Your ferry/hydrofoil options will almost certainly be reduced in April. All timetables for this area are on:-

www.alilaurogruson.it/orari.htm
www.capri.net/home/en/transport.php
- so you can check these for up to date schedules before you go.
To get to Capri you may have to sail from Sorrento - that will be your main inconvenience. I may be wrong but I think the Amalfi-Capri service only runs in summer.

Bus services in this area are good. You can find all the timetables online if you wanted to plan your trips beforehand. Your most useful ones are:-

www.uniplan.it/sita/s511_1.txt (Ravello-Amalfi)
www.uniplan.it/sita/s509.txt (Amalfi-Positano-Meta-Sorrento)
www.campaniatrasporti.it/sita/5121.htm (Amalfi-Salerno)
www.costadiamalfi.it/orari.htm

POMPEI - takes about 2 hours from Amalfi. There's an direct Amalfi-Pompei early morning bus, with a direct return leaving Pompei at 16.50.
www.uniplan.it/sita/s500_2.txt
The alternative is to go via META (near Sorrento), from where you can catch the Circumvesuviana train to Pompei.

NAPLES - early morning direct bus from Amalfi (as above) OR by train from Salerno.

ERCOLANO - 20 minutes from Naples or from Pompei by Circumvesuviana. Could be combined with either.

PAESTUM - by train or bus from Salerno.

'Golden Land Tours' in Amalfi offer guided tours by coach to all of the above plus others, e.g. Vesuvius/Pompei, Caserta/Casino, S.Giovanni Rotondo (Puglia). I'm not sure if they run in April, though.

Hope this helps, Sherry. Let me know if I can be of more help ...

Steve
