Bus travel, Chianti

Does anyone know how we would get from Venice to Radda in Chianti? I assume we'd take the Eurostar to Florence, but what's the best way from there? Also, once there, is it easy to catch buses between the villages of Tuscany or to Siena, etc.? We don't want to drive unless we have to. We're not adverse to getting a driver or taxi from Florence, but I suppose that's big bucks? Thanks!

L,

Driving in the countryside is easy. We drove all around (staying in Chianti) Tuscany and Umbria for a week with no problem. Got a little lost once around Siena, no big deal.

You really need a car! I don't recall seeing any buses around at all.

You could train to Siena and pick up there. The train station is a ways from the rental agency though, you would want to take a taxi.

buon viaggio!

LPF - Here's the bus timetable between Florence and Radda:

For bus timetables between Radda and Siena and other services in the Siena area go to:

For other SITA services in the area go to:

Hope this helps ...

Depending on when you are traveling, trenitalia has a 29 euro special fare for Venice/Florence that they are offering. We booked Florence/Venice on-line last week for March travel.

We are also planning a day trip to Panzano via bus from Florence and have used the sita web site that Steve has posted for timetables. I don't know how timely or dependable they are but we will see.

Well - I wouldn't be too happy paying € 29 between Venice & Florence ... unless it was 1st Class.

The normal ES fare is € 26.60
ICplus fare is € 18.75
