Bus to Siena

We would like to see the Chianti area and stop at a couple of wineries on a Sunday (in Oct.) and see Pisa, maybe San Gimignano and definitely Sienna on Monday. Are both days do-able by bus? Don't really have to do the wine tours, would just like to maybe do 1 tour (Verazzano Castle) and then sample the wine at a couple of places. Thanks for the help!

Hi S,

From whence are you departing?

They might not be open.

I wasn't sure if the wineries would be open on Sunday or not but read that going anywhere by bus on Sunday would take forever. Maybe we should do the Pisa trip on Sunday (Oct. 8)and wineries on Monday. Thanks.

Are you saying you want to see Pisa, San Gimi AND Siena in one day by public transportation from Florence? If so, I don't think you'll enjoy yourself, you'll spend the whole time getting from one to the other. With a car it could be different. Pisa is easily done by train, and many people combine that with Lucca which is the same geographical area and on the train line. Siena is easily done by bus and you could probably add in San Gimi to that if you don't want to spend that much time in either one. But I wouldn't try to do all three. If you have to drop one my choice would be to drop Pisa and I enjoyed Siena and San Gimi much more. I didn't do them on the same day though. I really think Siena "deserves" a whole day.
