Bus to Pompeii
Has anyone taken the bus to Pompeii? I understand it leaves from the port, so I would think it would save time over getting from the port to the train station and catching a train.

i am sure most people are wondering 'What Port?" I also would like to know about the bus to Pompeii. I will be in Amalfi. |
The port in Naples where the cruise ships come in. I've been asking this question on cruisecritics, but no one knows, so I thought I would try here.

Up for an answer. Carol, if no one responds, also check on the website, www.slowtrav.com, which has alot of good info on Italy.

Hi Carol,
This is the first time I have heard of it. I know of a train from Campo Flegri station to Pompeii city, but not to Pompeii Scavi. Would like to know what your research turns up. ((I)) |
Carol - I believe the Marozzi service from Rome drops off/picks up at Beverello en route to Pompeii/Sorrento - but it only runs once/twice per day.
Even if there is a direct local bus service it won't be as frequent as the Circumvesuviana train (- deps. every 30 mins from Piazza Garibaldi) - so that would be the best way to go. [You can reach Piazza Garibaldi station by tram (No 1) in less than 10 mins.] An alternative if you're travelling Fri, Sat or Sun is the hydrofoil to Torre Annunziata, from where there's a connecting bus service (Archeobus) to Pompeii. Hope this helps ... Steve |
