Bus from Verona to Lake Garda Eastern Shore
APT Verona bus lines connect Verona Porta Nuova Bus Station with towns on the eastern shore of Lake Garda: Peschiera, Gardaland, Lazise, Bardolino, Garda, Torri del Benaco, Brenzone, Malcesine, Torbole and finally Riva del Garda, at the northern tip of the Lake.
All buses stop at the Peschiera train station, a useful point to connect to or from the Milan to Venice train line. Buses leave Verona roughly hourly every day between 6:40 and 18:45, and take 130 minutes to reach Riva (one way fare 5.50 Euros). There are extra runs during the summer and fewer runs on Sunday. The bus terminal in Verona is 100 yards outside of the main entrance to the Verona Porta Nuova train station. Bus tickets are sold inside the station. You can get on and off the bus at intermediate stops, but need a new ticket each time you board. Tickets are sold at designated cafe/bars, newsstands and tobacco shops, usually in the immediate proximity of the bus stop. The ticket must be punched immediately upon boarding the bus. Heavy luggage can be placed in the baggage compartment beneath the main floor. The route is extremely scenic, particularly north of Bardolino. |
The beautiful scenic road is one lane in each direction. Consequently, expect traffic delays on peak travel days (particularly on weekends and during the summer).
Schedules and fares: www.apt.vr.it A different company operates buses between Verona's Bus Terminal and Sirmione, at the bottom of Lake Garda: www.saiatrasporti.it Service is also hourly, and a one way ticket is Euro 2.75. Here too, expect traffic delays. The route to Sirmione is not particularly scenic. |
Hi Gac,
If I wanted to do a day trip from Verona to see a bit of Lake Garda and surrounds, where do you think would be my best choices going by bus or train? Thanks :-) |
Mischka,
I had the same question a while back. Here's the very helpful thread: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34459452 |
Thanks a ton Jocelyn :-)

How about bus connections from Verona airport? NOT their official airport, but the one ryanair calls Verona airport and often flies to for only 49 pence - brescia airport. There is an airport bus to brescia downtown, and I guess the train goes onward to desenzano, but what about buses to west Garda (Salo and other sweet spots...).

Viking - The west coast services from Brescia are run by SIA and APTV:

Viking: Ryanair has a special bus from Verona Porta Nuova Train Station to the Brescia airport, timed to coincide with their flights.
