Bus from Naples airport to Praiano

I have some general info on how to do this, but looking for some details. We will take the Curreri bus to Sorrento (from right outside the arrivals hall at the airport I believe), purchasing tickets on the bus from the driver. OK, so now what? We arrive in Sorrento (where?) and get the Sita bus (from where? Where to buy tickets?) to Praiano. We are staying at Le Sirene - what bus stop do we tell the driver?

Thanks!!

There are 2 stops in Praiano--one just past church you will see in these pics. Le Sirene is downhill from the church.

Thanks Bob - is there somewhere we can tell the bus driver, so he can let us know when to get off?

From http://www.friendsofsorrento.co.uk/transport.htm Curreri bus arrives Piazza Tasso, the Sita bus stop is outside of train station, just a short walk.

To be safe, the first stop is at the hotel Tramonto d' Oro and is only 100 meters to the sign you see in my pics to walk down to Le Sirene---and right by the church.

As JudyC said, the Sita bus in Sorrento is right in front of the Circumvesuviana train station. You can buy tickets from the little shop in the ground floor of the train station (not upstairs where the platforms are). Note that the shop closes for lunch! The buses are identified in the front with their destination/route - look for one going to Amalfi, and ask the attendant which is the next bus leaving. Luggage goes underneath; the bus driver will open the hatch when you get off so you can collect your bags.

If you look at Google maps of Sorrento, you can see where the train line ends. The oblong shape immediately adjacent in front of it (going towards the water) is parking for the Sita buses. From the station entrance to Corso Italia is maybe a couple hundred feet at most, though it is a downward slope. The oval with a road around it is a little park. The Via Marziale is a quiet street with a yummy gelateria on it. (Of course I'm hard pressed to describe any gelato as anything other than yummy!!) From the map, it looks like Piazza Tasso is on Corso Italia at the end of Via Marziale. In other words, it shouldn't be much of a walk from the airport bus to where the Sita buses are, though it will be uphill.

Also, have you looked into geting the ArteCard Campania? It was a really good deal for us since we could use it for reduced admission to the archeological sites and also the museum, plus for public transit in the region. (It's good at lots of locations.) Google it for a link to its website, which should list the locations where you can buy it; I know Naples Termini is one...

When you get on the Sita bus, tell the driver you're going to Praiano. You could even tell him the name of the hotel, or at least that you want the duomo (the church in Bob's pics). The driver will probably nod curtly, but he'll know where it is you want to descend.

FWIW, you can't miss the dome of the duomo in Praiano as you come around the curve in the road. Guiding ourselves towards that dome is what saved us when we got lost hiking as I mentioned in your other thread! :D

Look at the 5th photo---with the man on the bench by the church. I beleive the white building in the lower right is Le Sirene-that should help.

Hi GB,

Good advice above.

A: Have you asked the hotel for explicit directions?

B: The bus stop is down the stairs and across the street from the train station exit.

C: Write "Hotel Le Sirene, Praiano" in block capitals on a piece of paper and show it to the driver.

D: When it is time to leave, the hotel will arrange for a porter to carry your bags up to the bus stop. (They can arrange a porter for the other way, too.)

Enjoy your visit.
