Bus from Munich to Prague

My husband and I will be traveling from Garmisch, Germany, to Prague later this summer. Some of the routes I've seen on the RailEurope site include the bus from Munich to Prague. I've never taken the bus in Europe -- can anyone tell me what it's like? Do you prefer the train, or is there little difference, as the RailEurope site says?

Thanks in advance.

We have used this company and they are reliable. Leave Munich at 7am and be in Prague at 12:30pm,5 1/2 hours, non-stop. www.eurolines.com

The direct service from Munich to Prague is on a German railways bus...very modern and convenient.
Buy tickets from

29 euros each I think

We've taken the bus from Nuremburg to Prague and back again, which I believe is the same type of bus. It was great. The bus is very comfortable and you stow your luggage under the bus so it's very easy. The bus has a bathroom. The only thing that the train has over the bus is that you have more room to get up and wander around and the train probably has a snack bar. But everybody brings snacks on the bus and they even have some limited snacks and drinks for sale.

The bus does not have a Bathroom, it has a toilet!

Thanks for the information.

What are your opinions regarding first class/second class seating?

I was on a German railways bus from Nuremburg to Prague and the second class seats were very comfortable. They were on the second level so you had good views and the bus was only half full.

We did second class seating and it was very comfortable. The only issue with 2nd class that I can see is if you have mobility issues or are a large person, the stairs might be difficult. But if you have regular mobility and not oversized, then 2nd class is totally fine.

On our return trip to Nuremburg on this type of bus, I went downstairs to use the restroom and there weren't any passengers in 1st class. Everybody on that departure had chosen 2nd class. I sat in 1st for a few minutes waiting for my turn in the restroom - the seats were larger and more comfortable, but not enough that I would pay the higher price.
