Bus from Haarlem to Schipol

How early do the buses (#300?)run in the morning from Haarlem to AMS? Our flight is at 10:30 am.

Hi

According to www.9292ov.nl the buses start at 5:15am but there are night buses if you need to get one earlier. Looks like they're every ten minutes.

Hope that helps.

Bear in mind that traffic will be very heavy in the mornings and even though buses have buslanes and their own traffic lights, this can affect the buses too. You will need to be at Schiphol by about 7.30 am which is slap bang in the rush hour. Have you considered taking a train- ok you have to change trains once, but it may be a more reliable and faster way to go.
But if you want to get the bus they take 43 minutes if there is no traffic and run frequently.

I took this bus in rush hour last Jan and it seemed the bus only lane went most of the way - indeed like a light rail line but a bus - with stations and all.

maybe my memory is not that good?

Could be Pal, I've never taken it. But unless you have a lot of luggage the train is quicker and more reliable even with the 1 change.

If you take the bus buy a National Strippen Karte (sp?) or strip ticket that can be used i think on any bus, tram and some trains in Holland - amsterdam included of course. Much cheaper than paying individual fares on the bus or tram. Can be sued my multiple folks at once

cancel it yourself in machines on the bus or tram - ask the driver to do it for you if you do not know how many zones are required for your trajectory.

I bought one at Schiphol tobacco shop before going to haarlem - sold at post offices i think and tobacconists or GVB kiosks like in front of Amsterdam Centraal station.

Train is fine - i took bus because i was in no hurry and was much cheaper - with the strip card

if taking train go from Haarlem to Amsterdam-Sloterdijk station and change there for trains to Schiphol - do not go into Amsterdam Centraal and come right back out thru Sloterdijk.

With luggage however i found the bus convenient - large place for luggage in back and it goes right from in front of Schiphol arrival hall to many places in Haarlem closer to your hotel than the Haarlem train station probably is - i got off right near my Haarlem hotel on the direct bus from Schiphol arrivals hall.

Thank-you to everyone for your assistance. We had a great visit to Brugge and Haarlem. From Haarlem it took 7 strippenkart tickets for the 40 minute ride on Bus # 300 A green bus with the words Connexxion written on the outside. The bus stop is located just down the street from the V and D department store. The buses begin running at 5 am and come every 6 minutes. We felt safe walking the dark, empty streets of Haarlem at 6:45 am.

I'll be basing myself in Haarlem in about three weeks for some days

A great great town IMO

and since i go by train great connections, even if just hopping to Amsterdam every day
