Bus From Florence To Lucca
I've been looking for the bus that I've read runs 50 min and is faster than the train. The only oner I can find is Lazzi, whose bus takes 1:45, much longerthan the train. Is this it or is there really a bus that bets thetrain?

You must be looking at the wrong bus schedule. You want the bus that goes to Lucca/Pisa. This bus doesn't make any stops until it gets to Lucca and takes about 1 hour. There are other busses to Lucca but they make numerous stops. I took this last summer and the cost was about 4 euro. As you are facing the train station in Florence with the Duomo/old Florence behind you the lazzi busses will be on your right across the street from the train station. You can purchase your tickets in an office there.

You have to find the schedule that doesn't stop in Montecatini. On the Lazzi site pull up the timetables and click on the Firenze,Lucca,Pisa. Scroll down til you find a bus that doesn't stop in Montecatini. It appears the time is more like 70 minutes than 50. The bus I took last summer did not make any stops between Florence and Lucca and it was the Lazzi bus.
Or use the trip planner. You want to select f for Florence and then Lucca in the other box. You will then have a selection of many Florence locations. You want p adua as this is the piazza the bus leaves from. Select your time of day but it still appears the trip takes 70 minutes not 50.
I took the bus because everyone said it would be faster and drop you closer than the train and that the train is slower because it makes many stops and the station is a bit of a walk from the old town. The walk isn't that far but we were glad we took the bus because it had ac and the train didn't.

I took the bus from SMN to Lucca last year, and it's quite convenient. I was planning to take a train, but got to the station a bit late. Lazzi station, as noted, is right across the street from the train. Don't remember the exact time, but it's no big deal.
An advantage of the bus is that the Lucca stop is a bit nearer to the sights than the train station, which is just outside the city walls.

If you enter Firenze and Lucca into departure and destination, there is only two busses 8:15 and 11:00, that takes 75 min. These are awkward times - you either gave to get up very eary or waste a thick of the day. All the rest take 1:45 to 2:20. The train has a run at 9:40 of about the same duration. This seems like a much better time. Anyway, trains are fun to ride. Busses are not.

The difference being these are regional trains that are not nice like an ES train and not airconditioned. You will also have 11 stops on the train between Florence and Lucca and a walk from the station to the walled part of Lucca. I enjoy train travel in Italy but last summer with the heatwave the ac on the bus was a lifesaver.

Just returned from travelling Florence to Lucca. The train is better.
First, trains are inherently more comfortable, even the regional train from Florence to Lucca. Second, it's true that the station is outside the city walls and that the bus takes you inside. But this makes little difference. The bus stop is closer to the main square but the train station is closer to the duomo. If you are going to both, the proximity factor is a wash. Lastly, if you have already travelled by train, there is no problem is getting tickets, getting schedules, finding the station etc. If you take the bus, you have to start messing with a whole new system of travel. How do you get the Lazzi schedule? Where's the Lazzi station? Will the ticket guy understand English? The extra effort is simply not worth the trouble. Stick with the train.

I took the bus to Lucca and train back from Pisa and I liked the bus better than the regional train for several reasons. It was summer with a major heatwave and the bus had ac and the train didn'tand the seats on the bus were much nicer than the train. I agree that the train station isn't alot further in Lucca than the bus stop and the prices are about the same but I didn't think there was any extra effort taking the bus.
