Bus Avignon to St. Remy de Provence
 

Still looking for a bus schedule between Avignon and St. Remy or a website pertaining to same.

Appreciate any help.

I'm afraid this won't be much of help (and you're probably wondering why I posted a reply), but I was in the same situation you're currently in. I visited the Provence region in mid-May and wanted to go to St. Remy. I even looked on google and didn't find anything that met my needs.

If I remember correctly, the bus I took left the station at 10:00'ish (I think a bit before, like 9:45 or so-the window didn't open until 10:00, I believe) and the last bus left St. Remy at 18:40'ish or so. It's about a 45 minute trip from Avignon to St. Remy.

In case you didn't know this, the Gare Routiere is to the side of the Avignon Centre Station. If you're facing the station, head to the left (towards the Hotel Ibis) and then walk downhill to get to the gare routiere (you go underneath the Hotel Ibis). As I stated above, the window didn't open until 10:00, but I couldn't find a great schedule that gave me the times for departure, etc. I found out about the return bus times from the schedule posted at the St. Remy bus stop. As you probably know, you pay the bus driver. If I recall, it wasn't too expensive.

I know it's not exactly what you're looking for, but I hope that it is of some help to you.

You'll love St. Remy! It's one of my favorite places.

I don't know if there is one, but I think I remember someone posting this schedule on Fodors once who was down there. I'm not sure.

I took that bus, though, and I can tell you there are not very many, and the schedule is not that convenient for returns. I did have enough time to do what I wanted, mostly, but the return bus I took (around 4 pm) was a local also used as a schoolbus and it made a lot of local stops and took forever. I think I got there around 11 am.

I guess there isn't really that much to do in St Remy, so that was good -- I had a light lunch, then walked to the asylum where Van Gogh lived a while, toured around that, then came back and wandered around town a little. It was about a mile or maybe a little more from St Remy to the asylum, as I recall. It was a very pleasant walk because of the scenery which Van Gogh had painted, and I enjoyed that.

I think the bus company is Societes Rapides de Sud Est but I can't find a URL for them--maybe they have changed names. Maybe you'll need to wait until getting there to plan, that's what I did. The schedules are in the Gare Routiere (bus station) right next to the old SNCF train station in Avignon.

There's no train station in St-Rémy; buses from Avignon, Aix and Arles drop you in place de la République, the main square abutting the old town on the east. The tourist office , on place Jean-Jaurès (June-Sept Mon-Sat 9am-noon & 2-7pm, Sun 9am-noon; rest of year Mon-Sat 9am-noon & 2-6pm; tel 04.90.92.05.22, fax 04.90.92.38.52), is just south of the centre, reached by following boulevard Marceau/avenue Durand-Maillane; they have excellent free guides to cycling and walking routes in and around the Alpilles and can provide addresses for renting horses . If you want to rent a bike , try Telecycles (tel 04.90.92.83.15). It's difficult to get to Glanum or Les Baux except by foot or taxi (taxis tel 06.07.02.25.64 or 06.09.92.13.38).

Maybe the tourist office here could have more information.

There is also a tour bus co. that goes to St. Remy. I did this last fall. I can't remember the name of the company, but maybe someone else has it. You can get information at the TI in Avignon. The bus co. is to the right of the central train station if you are facing it. It was not expensive. The bus is for Wed. a.m. market. I took the afternoon bus to Gordes and Rousillon. the bus lets you off and picks you up at a specified time. Very easy and no schedules to worry about.

Yes, that's it. It was great. They have buses for different destinations each day. They are not "tours" per se, the bus just takes you there and picks you up. It's a great way to see the towns of Provence/Luberon if you don't want to drive. I did take a "regular" bus to Arles, which was also very easy once I figured out how to read the bus schedule.

I used everyone of their excusions while staying in Villenueve, and met alot of people who were fun to be with on those trips.
