http://www.eurolines.nl/?lang=ENG offers busses from The Hague to Barcelona. But be aware; it is a long. long drive!

Train schedules can be found at: http://www.nshispeed.nl/en/internati...in-timetable-2

Fastest is by plane.

Vueling and Iberia fly direct from Amsterdam. Depending on when you are wanting to go they will probably be nearly as cheap as Eurolines, and a lot quicker - do you really want to spend 24+hours on a bus? The train will be long too and depending on the route you take could be expensive.

Train route would involve A-Dam to Paris and changing to a probable overnight Elipsos service...going from Paris to Barcelona by day even if you went south by TGV would be a real flog unless, like myself, you really LIKE rail travel. If you can live with the checked luggage restrictions I would also recommend flying and you can check budget flights at www.whichbudget.com or www.skyscanner.net

A family member of ours done a similar trip. It is long and crammed. In the end the airfare was just as cheap, especially if they had booked early enough.
But if you do not like flying then maybe you should look into the train services.

The above will give you a good insite as to what is what.

Use this site, the German Railway Schedule site that has schedules for trains all over Europe. And besides the very neat www.seat61.comsite ribeirasacra gives i always also recommend www.ricksteves.com and www.budgeteuropetravel.com as great primers on learning all about european trains.

Barcelona has the grandest castles in all Europe>

been to Barcelona several times and i did not notice any castles that i would call the grandest in all of Europe

can you enlighten me as to which castles you are referring?

thanks and i love your neat description of this amazing Catalan city, pronounced i believe "Bar-the-lona" by locals but Bar-ceh-lona by Spaniards - is this correct? thanks

I wouldn't go from The Hague to Barcelona with train or bus, it's really a hell! on easyjet.com or easyjet.nl you can find really low prices airfare tickets, most of the time they are even cheaper than traintickets...
