Good tip.
And anyone going to Burgundy who wants a fab place to stay, attested to by dozens of Fodorites - www.myhomeindijon.com and Coco's site also has some fine info on Dijon, the historic capital of Burgundy. I'll be staying there at the end of next month. Hope i got the site right. |
Coco - Tres tres tres tres Bonnes Vacanelles a tu et toi famille!

Nice thoughts in very fractured French. |
I know Pal is very nice but hopeless with his French ;-) Bon week end!

We will be visiting Burgundy in mid June and staying at Coco's place based on great reviews here. Iris, Thanks for website on Burgundy. We will be driving from Provence on a Saturday and staying at Coco's on Sunday and Monday nights and then drive to Paris on Tuesday. Couldn't get Sat as she was already booked. Should we stop at Beaune on the drive up from Provence or drive straight to Dijon and see that town first? Option #1: Drive to Beaune on Sat for lunch & visit; stay overnight in Beaune. Sunday: stop at vineyards along N74 between Beaune & Dijon. Arrive Dijon Sunday afternoon. Monday day trip to Vezelay Tuesday: drive to Paris, stop at Fontenay Abbey Option #2: Sat Drive to Dijon, lunch and then visit town. Get hotel in Dijon. Sunday drive to Beaune and vineyards. Monday: Day trip to Vezelay |
We went to Burgundy a few years ago and loved it. We stayed in Beaune and did a day trip to Dijon. I seem to remember that a lot of things were closed on a Sunday in Dijon--maybe you can check that. We liked Dijon but we also really liked Beaune. It is a smaller town but they have a great wine tasting museum and also an old hospital you can visit, plus nice shopping.

winnick - still paying big euros for any dirt on Coco - compromising photos, etc. so far can find none, but... (Coco's hubby is a gendarme of some kind i guess so be careful).
Coco - Ca va? Moi Il va tres tres bien pour moi et Sylvain. Ta Ta pour maintenant Rapelle - dernier jour de fevrier! |
Pal my DH is not a gendarme [-X but a policeman (a nice one! :-x <):)) Please don't frighten winnick!
Donne le bonjour à Sylvain. |
winnick - i am just fooling with my FodorFriend Coco. I too will be staying at Coco's the end of February. I am sure that you too, like legions of Fodorites will revel in your stay and Coco's fine hospitality.

No strike for me since I have no boss anymore :-).
I noticed MANY children at Carrefour supermarket with their parents or grand parents while doing my weekly shopping, most of the school were closed. The highways were busy with slow trucks but I went to Dijon with no problem at all (small roads). Cleaning at the apartment and then cinema! What a life! ;-) |
J'aime Le Carrefour!

Joyeuse St Valentin chouchou! ((D))((F))
|
Joyeuse St Valentin chouchou
Shouldn't it be masculin? |
Good question Michael :-)
We say la Saint Valentin (like with male saints "la St Patrick, la St Romain etc...)I could have said "bonne fête de la St Valentin". http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint-Valentin Maybe it is also a short term for la fête de St Patrick where "fête de" was removed... :-? |
Je te voyerai bientot - sur le jour de- la Saint Coco - fevrier 29em!
