Burgundy 1 or 2 day tours
 

Hello - we are going to France in late May and are interested in going to Burgundy for 1-night/2-days for wine tastings - mostly reds/Pinot Noirs. From my early research, it looks like there are a number of tour companies, but they significantly mark-up pricing if we booked the hotel and the full tour through them. We can book the hotel ourselves, and I understand you pretty much need a guide to get around/get into wineries plus it would make it easier. Does anybody have suggestions on a company to do a full-day guided tour? I am only finding several day tours or straight up chauffeurs, ideally we'd like to have a full-day guide. Thank you for your thoughts!

I don't know of a guide to recommend specifically as we've done most of our winery visits on our own, however, the best options we have found have been through our hotels. They typically have contacts with drivers and relationships with local wineries. It will also be less structured than a formal tour (if that's something that's appealing).

I'll pass on the same suggestion someone recently gave me on this board...Authentica tours out of Dijon. Great reviews on TripAdvisor. I have no experience with them myself.

Sheena I'm sorry but I don't think this is true. There are plenty of walk in tastings through out the area. The signs are everywhere and yes you could do with a book or a plan but you don't need a guide. Making it easier, well someone has to drive and the drink drive rules are tight, so you could walk or ride a bike. You also need to think if you are going to taste wines you can taste at home or something new.

If I had to focus I'd focus on Beaunne. Have a look at the offical Burgundy website (a bit clunky but worth a wait) to find out where to visit and for companies who drive.
