7 days in Lisbon/Porto/Douro Valley-need tips on driving,dining&experiences

Hi all, I'm back looking for help with driving suggestions, restaurants, sight-seeing, and any other tips. All lodging and transport has been booked.
[if you haven't seen my other posts then here is a little about us: Family of 3 with 13 yr old girl from Chicago suburbs; 1st 7 days in Portugal; last 7 days in Spain; enjoy the outdoors/light adventure/animals; some history; food&wine; cute little towns; love music; art - not so much]
Here is our Portugal itinerary:
Fri, Jun 6 – Arrive Lisbon airport ~9am (Altis Grand Hotel)
Sat, Jun 7 – Lisbon (Altis Grand Hotel)
Sun, Jun 8 – pick up car in morning (Avis downtown) and drive north to Porto (apartment in historic centre)
Mon, Jun 9 – Porto (apartment in historic centre)
Tue, Jun 10 – Drive to Douro Valley mid-afternoon (Quinta Da Timpeira near Lamego; dinner reserved)
Wed, Jun 11 – Douro Valley (Quinta Da Timpeira)
Thu, Jun 12 – Douro Valley; drive back to Porto airport for 8:50 PM flight to Barcelona
[will post Spain itinerary separately]
Thanks so much for any tips or ideas!

Quinta Da Timpeira actually isn't in the Douro River Valley. It's south of Castelo. The area isn't bad and the Quinta is nice, but you miss out on the views. Just note that it will be fairly warm in mid-June.

You can expect the highs to be in the upper 60s to mid-70s by the middle of June in Castelo, but it will be a little warmer in Peso da Régula, in the Douro River Valley.
