Bunratty Banquet or Traditional Irish night?
Hi Everyone-
Any opinions on which we should do for our last night in Ireland? And I know this is a silly question, but do you know if either will serve a vegetarian dish? When reading about it, the traditional irish night might look like more fun? but i think fodors says 'if you cant get into the banquet, do the irish night'? so, im confused and was hoping for suggestions. thanks so much, Joanna |
Hi Joanna,
I haven't been to either of these events, but took a look at both for our May trip. The menus for both include a statement that vegetarian dishes (and other special dietary requests) are available. I would think you would want to confirm when making a reservation. oopsy |
We did the Bunratty Banquet in 2003 on our last night. We had a lot of fun, but we are also suckers for cheezy dinner/theater.

I've done both. Cheesy but fun for the banquet and wonderful for the Irish night. Is is Cathleen's? It was great.

i'm sorry, is what cathleens?
i think both shows are bunratty castle events? so, sharon, it sounds like you liked irish night better? |
Yes and I didn't expect to but it was great.

Kathleen's is the pub at Bunratty Castle Hotel. They did shows there but I haven't heard of them recently. Perhaps the banquets were too much competition. I really like Bunratty Traditional Irish Night in the Corn Barn at Bunratty Folk Park. They have three options for dinner -- Irish stew, salmon or vegetarian pasta.

I ordered vegetarian at the Bunratty Banquet, just confirm as you are seated. The entertainment was corny, but we had some good vocalists too, surprisingly. it was fun.
