I must confess that I haven't read through all of the above info, but allow me to share an experience that was wonderful and I think would be meaningful to anyone who is of European decent. My husband and I are half-German, half-Irish. One of our trips to Germany included going to the towns of our ancestors. Although graves are no longer present, the parish Church records were priceless to view, to touch, and to imagine seeing the individual name being recorded...births, marriages, deaths. If you happen to be German, treat yourself to a trip to the homeland. Our little cities ended up being less than 50 miles apart!
