budget hotels in Bath
I'll be staying in Bath for three nights in May. I'm trying to find a room for one person. I'm not opposed to staying in a hostel, as long as I could get a private room, and shared bath is okay. I ran some searches here but haven't found much in the way of accomodations located in town that are under 75GBP. I'd prefer to stay under 50GBP, if possible. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I think part of the problem is that in my searches for "Bath" I'm finding every reference to "bath"-room facilities.

Consider Priceline. You have a fair chance of getting a good deal under your price limit. See http://www.biddingfortravel.com and http://www.betterbidding.com .
Or try this hostel: http://www.hostelbooking.com/ibnpub/...e.asp?id=18010 You would have to pay for a room in which there were two beds most likely, judging from the web site. But I would phone them up and explain what you want. They might allow you to take one room for yourself. Also try Accor, which might help: http://www.accorhotels.com HRS: http://www.hrs.de |
I'm not sure if you're interested in staying in a bed and breakfast, but we're going to be in Bath in May as well and have booked a room at Bay Tree House (http://www.bath.co.uk/baytree/)
It is apparently located 10 min walk from city centre and a single costs 35-48 GBP (incl. breakfast). |
A B&B would be great. I'll check it out. Thank you retrobabe. And thank you Willtravel for all the other leads.

I stayed at the Bay Tree House last summer. It was very nice. It is only about 10 minute walk from the center of town. There are quite a few B&Bs on that street so if Bay Tree House doesn't have a room ask her for recommendations of her neighbors.

A good website to check is www.smoothhound.co.uk. You can find all kinds of accommodations in England there.

I wrote to Bay Tree House. They have a single room available on May 8-11 for 38GBP. I booked it. I'll report back on it. Thanks again for all the help!
