Budget Hotel or Apartment in Wengen... Help Please!! Price 100-150 CHF
I know this is probably a rarity to ask on these forums ... but can anyone recommend any budget accomodations in Wengen ... We are hoping for 100-150 CHF for a double or triple room ... We are 2 adults and a child (5 years old) so do not want to stay in a hostel ... But a 2 or 3 star hotel or a simple apartment will be OK for us ...
Everything that we are seeing is above the 200 CHF range .. If we do not find something in Wengen that is in our price range, we might be forced to stay 7 nights in Murren whereas for now we are wanting to split 3 nights in Murren and 4 nights in Wengen ...
Thanks
Vibhav

Hotel Baeren! I am staying there again in June. This is my third stay there. Great breakfast, very clean rooms, strong water pressure in the shower, and free wifi or use of their computer in the lobby. The owners are friendly, English speaking and very helpful. I take the half pension for an extra 20CHF per person, but it is not required. www.baeren-wengen.ch

Scatcat ... I had just checked their website ... They are charging close to 120 CHF per person and with the 50% off for child it will be 120 + 120 + 60 = 300 CHF ... We are looking to pay upto 150 CHF for the room for the 2 adults and one child ...

Hi vibhav,
Have you considered renting a small apartment while you're there? You can usually get an apartment for just a bit less than a hotel, and you're likely to get more room.
You get the very best prices if you can rent for a full week, and if you can arrive on a Saturday, as Saturday-Saturday rentals are the norm. If you could arrange that, I think it would pay off it getting a great place for a good price.
I've heard great things about Chalet-Service Wengen, so that's where I'd start.

Best of luck!

Hello vibhav
Here is a listing of some 3-bed apartments in Wengen, a number that are within your budget. For example, Chalet Forsthaus. I have not stayed at any of these apartments, but it will hopefully give you some helpful information.

FYI: A 3-bed apartment does not mean a 3-bedroom apartment. It means simply that: 3 beds. Read the fineprint of each place to find out about bedrooms, bed sizes, sofabeds, etc.
Also, as swandav2000 mentioned, many apartments are Saturday to Saturday rentals only. I see you arrive on a Sunday. Sometimes landlords are flexible, sometimes not.
Have also heard good things about chalet-service as mentioned above. We stopped in their rental office in Wengen last summer to ask about their properties. Nice folks.
Happy travels!

swandav and swisshiker ... Looking into those websites right now ... I am staying for a week starting on 26th June Sunday, but planning to split time 3 days in Murren and 4 days in Wengen ... We want to experience both the villages and not have any regrets ...
Scatcat, we are going in June ... it shows about 130 CHF per person per night ... that will be too much out of our budget .. we are looking to spend upto 150 CHF for 3 of us ...

Are you on the website that I posted. I see 75-95 CHF (summer)per person. I don't know what the charges are for a small child in your room. That would still be over your budget a little. If you don't mind waiting til you arrive, there is a list of hotels at the train station. I think they may a better prices for the vacant rooms.

Well, finding an apartment for less than a week may be difficult. To stay within your budget, you may have to skip having the split stay and opt for one or the other only.
But it never hurts to shoot off an email to the apartment owners or agency to see if they'll accommodate you for only a few days.
Good luck!
