Budget Accomodation Sorrento
 

I am looking to spend 3 nights around Sorrento the first week of June with my boyfriend. We will have NO CAR as we are both under 25 and along a similar line, when we hear about *discount* hotels at 150 Euro, that seems very undiscounted to us. We want to do a day trip to Pompeii, perhaps a day exploring the coast, and another day to just laze around. We are open to any suggestions for B&B, hostel, budget hotel as cheap as possible (but safe and able to reach without car). We are just graduating college so the upscale hotel can wait, we just want to enjoy beautiful Italy!

I've stayed at the Hotel City, which is walking distance from the Circumvesuviana train station. Ten years ago when I was there last, it was budget but very clean and well kept.

I've not stayed at this place, but you might check on Tripadvisor to see if someboy else has. But it looks very nice and it is around 65 euros for a double:

The difficulty will be arranging for the room. Do you know Itailian or an Italian speaker? I would call the place directly.

We stayed at Villa Oriana for E60 per night last April for a double with bathroom (was not high season). It is a good 10 min walk from Sorrento train station but closer to Sant'Agnello (sp) station - also at the top of a rather steep hill - so have good shoes. However, the views were great, breakfast so wonderful - the villa is in the middle of a citrus orchard. The hosts are beautiful and will spend hours chatting about the area.

Their site has cheapest double at 80E. I wouldn't worry about a shared bathroom as it is not a large place.

Try also Hotel Linda which is just behind the railway station.Triple room with bathroom, toilet under 90 euro.Budget but, clean and very helpful owners.

We are going to be staying at Il Nido - 40 euros per person per night.

I also recommend Il Nido. Very nice hotel, with reasonable rates and it has a good restaurant with reasonable pries also.

Although the hotel is up in the hills overlooking Sorrento (beautiful view), they offer a free shuttle service to Sorrento. See their website for more details. www.ilnido.com I think they list the shuttle timetable and where they stop at on the website.
They will also pick you up at the train station when you arrive.

I stayed there a couple years ago and will be staying there in September this year. Not only is it a good value, but the staff if very friendly and helpful.

Scullysioux - thanks for the good words on Il Nido. I had read good things but always nice to have a first hand review.

I loved it from the website, the price was right (esp since we need 2 rooms) and I can't wait!

donnapg - Be sure to eat at Il Nido one night. The food is great as are the prices and the view fantastic.

You don't have to wait on Il Nido's shuttle, just catch one of the local busses. Ask Gianni which bus and where to catch it.

I hear they added a pool since I stayed there last. Let us know if they did and what it's like.

ky Thanks - we had planned on eating there one of our 2 nights. I saw the menu on line and it looks wonderful as do the views.

I was thinking Easter Sunday might be the night to eat there since many other restaurants might be closed.
