No, but I've been to the Jesus Tavern.

Hi - I was there about 6 months ago. I found that the place is not what it used to be. It was once very trendy. I was there 2 years ago, and it was stunning. Great food, service, ambience. But 6 months ago it was full of what appeared to be bus loads of tourists and average food.
Sorry to sound so negative, but it's really not worth the prices anymore.

Regards,
jade

Bettcha John G can give us the scoop. Where are you John?

Food is ok. Service is ok. Atmosphere is fun and noisy and crowded.

Jade's right. I was there 1 month ago and it was pretty average. I felt like I was part of some bus tour and the food was nothing amazing. The decor is very beautiful but it definitely felt like a 'has-been hot' place.

Cheers,
Mark

Go there to drink. The buzz is great. Don't go there to eat. The food is now shockingly average (change of staff, I believe).

Didn't get in as one of the guys in our group had worn black tennis shoes as we had been hopping from bar to bar and his feet hurt (sigh!), so if you go dress appropriately.

Wendy

What and Where is this Buddah Bar? I've never heard of it before but it sounds pretty interesting.

xxx Dec 23rd, 2002 02:15 PM

what continent is it in?

Lesli Dec 23rd, 2002 02:21 PM

Yes, it is helpful to identify the city (and country) in your post.... It's in Paris, France.

Apparently, some people are still enjoying it: http://www.worldsbestbars.com/city/P...eBuddhaBar.asp
The only Buddah Bar I've seen in Europe is in Zandvoort, on the North Sea coast west of Amsterdam. This bar is for the young and young at heart. No food. Just music and beer. There are plenty of other places for fun in Zandvoort. This town is where the Amsterdamers let their hair down, as if they haven't done so already. You might compare Zandvoort vs. Amsterdam to Margate City vs. Philadelphia. Now, just where is you Buddah?
I posted the original message in the "France" board. I was wondering about the one in Paris

Buddha Bar was OVER two years ago, as was Costes. There is a new bar in London (I have to email my friend because I can't remember the name)that is all the rage, and all the A-list people in Paris either fly or take the Eurostar over for a night out and then come back to Paris in the morning. Very Lilian Hellman meets Damian Hirst.
