Budapest to Sighisoara overnight train and border checks
We are contemplating a trip to Romania for next spring (April) and thinking about flying into (or out of) Budapest. If we do so, we'd likely take the overnight Dacia Express train. I understand that there are border checks. Anyone know how long they take? We'll be traveling as a family of four, with two (then) 13 year olds. I'm assuming we all have to get up and physically show our passports? Do we have to exit our couchette or sleeper room? The idea of being woken up at 3 am isn't super appealing so I'm hoping to find out more information before we move forward.

This is a report on the Ister, rather than the Dacia, but the same applies - just much later, so you are woken up.

Hope it helps.
As usual have a look at Man in Seat 61- https://www.seat61.com/
I had it bookmarked for a dream train trip through Europe
