Budapest to Poreč

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for the most convenient way for small group of mothers with children to get from Budapest to Poreč in Croatia and back in August 2025.

What options do I have?

Are there trains available?

Apart from trains I also consider the option of hiring a minibus, but that would depend on how much it could possibly cost. Are there any companies you can recommend?

Thank you in advance
Viktor

You can see your options at rome2rio.com -- just be sure to click through to the underlying sites to make sure you're identifying options for the time you want to go.

Porec is beautiful -- enjoy!

If you want to do it in 1 day and exclude planes, overnight trains or overnight buses, there may be just 1 solution:
Budapest dp by train 9.00 - Zidani Most ar 15.40, dp 15.47 - Zagreb ar 17.11, dp by bus (Arriva) 18.00 - Porec ar 22.00

At certain days, Wizzair has cheap flights Budapet dp 8.05 - Venice ar 9.30.
You can then go on by ferry Venice dp 16.30 - Porec ar 19.30

Venice and then ferry looks beautiful but might be stressful with children.

I don't mind overnight trains but seem to be unable to find one suitable.

By overnight train:
Take any late afternoon train to Vienna.
Board there the Venice bound nightjet 1237 (with sleeping cars and couchettes) dp 21.49 up to Udine ar 6.23 and change there to the regional train 16647 dp 7.00 - Trieste ar 8.09.
Cross the street to the bus terminal and leave Trieste at 11.00 by Brioni bus to Porec ar 12.25
