Budapest to paris - air or rail
 

hi all,

iam already in the forum regarding my trip to paris for 4 nights from august 19th to 23rd. Many suggesitons for accomdationa re there and hopefully i find something by tomorrow.

Guide me regarding the means of transport. I saw in Malev and Airfrance which is costing me for 600 euros for 3 adults and one infant.

What are the train fares like. Is it cheaper or you epople recommed to go air

but there is also an overnight train Vienna to Paris and then you'd save a hotel cost for the night and arrive in Paris bright and early in the morning.

Looks like Easyjet flies from Orly to Budapest. They be able to beat the majors if you book soon.

We used EasyJet from Paris to Budapest. I would prefer the plane to spending the required amount of time on the train.

It looks like WizzAir (www.wizzair.com) flies from Budapest to Paris Beauvais, and Air Europa (www.aireuropa.com) & EasyJet fly to Paris Orly. I just plugged in some random dates on WizzAir and it's about $105/€75 one-way. I agree that flying this route is preferable to the train, especially with an infant. It would be a really long train ride (around 20 hours), and would likely involve changing trains a few times. To me, flying wins hands down here.

Beauvais is quite a way from central Paris, so make sure you factor that into the equation should you choose Wizz. There should be a bus ( I think Ryanair uses Beauvais as well)to central Paris.

There would have to be a MAJOR price difference to leave from Beauvais instead of Orly or CDG.

.. the bus.. the time involved on the journey itself.. very very inconvenient for some depending on the time of your flight. Can be stressful also.

This question should answer itself. Budapest is probably about 15 hours by train from Paris and you'll have to change trains at least once, probably more. Even if the fare is 20E less per person, or you do save a hotel night (with an uncomfortable evening's sleep on the train), is your time worth nothing?

600 euro for three adults isn't that much, but a discount airline would probably save you enough money to pay for that hotel night. Malev and Air France are government-owned airlines so they have less incentive to cut prices to gain travelers.
