Note that it is Billt that has been responding using Mrsbillt as my fodors account has a problem.
We have been traveling all over Europe and Asia and have used cash instead of ATM,s without any problems. My security wallet keeps my cash safe, even it Italy when we were accosted by Gypsies they were not successful . We change our cash for local currencies usually at the best exchange places in the cities we frequent. We use credit cards for major purchases, paying the hotel bill and some taxis, and restaurants that take the card. Credit cards are much safer than debit cards. And yes sometimes we exchange some cash at airports and train stations. We keep only what we will spend each day in my security wallet and the rest in the hotel safe. And I am careful when getting cash from my security wallet. Never had a problem. If we are visiting different countries with different currencies we use up the currency before moving on to the next country so we are not having to exchange left over foreign currency for another. Seems to me I recall a number of threads that suggest when using ATM,s one should make one large withdrawal to minimize bank fees, well.... Then you wind up with a lot of cash in your hand and what to do then? You are right back to protecting your cash in a ...... Security wallet!
OK have we beaten this issue to dead and can we move on?

No, it isn't dead. If your ATM problem is with debit cards get a card that is ATM only. And get a bank account with no fees or a credit union account with very low fees.

Too many hoops to jump thru, I'll stick to what works for us for the last 15 years. Now I am moving on to what to ask in round 3
