Budapest/Prague hotel questions
We are traveling there in late June.
I am looking for some hotel recommendations. We like quiet, well-located hotels, charm is nice, but not totally necessary. Under $200. Is this possible? I do have two hotels booked: The Victoria in Budapest and the Antik in Prague, but if you have better suggestions, I 'd appreciate it. I have heard, just recently, that the Victoria is noisy , so I am a bit worried. |
I would stay at the Hilton in the castle district in budapest or the Marriott in the Pest side.
In Prague the Inter-continental has the best location as well as the Four season, The Hilton is pretty close but not at walking distance have to take the bus 1/2 mile from city center, The Marriott-reinassance Prague is also xtremly well located and very nice hotel. Joseph in the jewish district is awsome great location and beautifull hotel, $. |
the victoria has great views.. but it is on heavily travelled street. however, so are many hotels.but we were pleasantly surprised at the LACK of honking horns in budapest. we heard very few.

We stayed at the Josef in Prague and loved it. Good location for walking, very modern highstyle hotel in two older buildings.

We stayed at the Victoria in 2003 and loved it. The location is excellent, the staff pleasant and helpful, it is near several restaurants and a metro station. The view is spectacular (be sure to get a room on an upper floor so you can see over the trees).
In Prague we stayed at the Maximilian, which is more expensive, but we were very pleased with our stay there as well (www.maximilianhotel.com). It is well located in Josefov, again the staff was pleasant and helpful, the included breakfast was much better than usual, and there are two good restaurants minutes away. We personally prefer to stay at other than American chains when in Europe, but to each their own. |
