Budapest --> Prague --> Berlin

I will be heading to Budapest at the end of September 2013 and plan to spend a few days in Budapest, Prague and Berlin. I can spend 3 days in 2 of the cities and 2 days in the last. Which of the cities listed do you think I should spend 2 days and which ones I should spend 3.

* there was some confusion in my last post regarding this so I just want to note that my actual vacation is almost 12 days but I have figured after traveling from the US plus trains in between countries I will have a total 8 days to explore the 3 cities.

<<my actual vacation is almost 12 days but I have figured after traveling from the US plus trains in between countries I will have a total 8 days to explore the 3 cities.>>

What?

Put down a proposal so this makes sense:

Day 0 - fly to __
Day 1 - arrive in [A]
Day 2 - [A]
Day 3 - [A]
Day 4 - travel to [B]

etc.

Then you'll have a better frame of reference too.

You did explain the number of days in your other thread.

SHAREEN3 Feb 20th, 2013 12:51 PM

Thanks BigRuss but I have that written down....... I was asking if anyone had an opinion on which of the 3 cities I should spend 2 days in instead of 3. Maybe Prague has less to see than Berlin etc etc.

Michael Feb 20th, 2013 12:51 PM

I would pick Berlin over Prague.

SHAREEN3 Feb 20th, 2013 12:55 PM

Yes, I explained it after (Adrienne) you wrote I wouldn't have enough time in any of the cities. My question wasn't if you thought I had enough time. So I re-posted so I could get actual opinions from people on what I asked.

thanks Michael!

Since you are asking how long to spend in which city I would ask you what your interests are. Berlin has the most to see; more museums, more historical sites both in the center and surrounds; the old town part of Prague looks absolutely medieval, etc.

Having been to all three my own interests would cause me to spend three days in Berlin; 3 in Prague; 2 in Budapest.

I would agree on 2 in Budapest and 3 in each of the others - unless you have some special inerest or relationship with Hungary.

(All are worth more time - but you have what your have.)

SHAREEN3 Feb 20th, 2013 01:54 PM

thank you Dukey1 & nytraveler - this is my first time in all 3 cities and I know I would probably need to spend a week in each to really take it all in but I'm going to make the most of the time I have there. I love Art & History and I don't have any particular ties to Hungary so I will take your advice.

I think your age group is important in making this choice. I think that Berlin is a very exciting place for young people, but Prague is far more interesting if you love art and history because it ranges from Mediaeval to modern. I have no opinion on Budapest where I am intending to spend a week in June but I am told there are many things to see.

If you love art, then I think planning to make Berlin one of your longer stays is worth considering.

thanks so much!
