Budapest Pensions and Sights

I will be in Vienna attending a Conference next year and plan on spending a few days there plus taking the hydrofoil hovercraft from Vienna to Budapest. I have been to Vienna before and so don't need information about that city. I would like information about staying in Budapest (I'll be on a tight budget - a pension is fine by me) and what sights or things to do are an absolute MUST.

Hi Linda,
We are going to Budapest late in July so I have been searching everywhere for info. I found 2 good articlesin the European Visits Newsletter of Jan/Feb 97 at the European Travel (or Visits) Web site. I don't have the exact address but I think that you could find it.

If you get any good recommendations I would really appreciate it if you could forward them to me at [email protected].

Good Luck and Thanks,

Hi Linda, We are going to Budapest in July for three days. I found Zsold Nagy of Affordable Accomodations Reservation System For Hundary to be very helpful. Web Site: http://www.magnet.hu
I gave him an idea what we were looking for and he had lots of suggestions. We are going to stay out in the country for two nights then to Pecs. Good Luck!

Linda,
Can't reccommend any budget hotel in Pest, which is where you should stay to be in the thick of things.
I stayed at the Elizabeth Hotel, close to where your boat will dock. Very nice and friendly and excellent location.

Musts: Vaci utca shopping street; Fisherman's Bastion and Castle Hill....these are the big tourist things. I found the antique musical instrument museum to be fascinating and I don't even play.
I like the zoo area and parks. You can take the subway. A tour of the inside of the Parliament is outstanding. Should be enough for 2 days.
