Budapest or Prague
 

One week - which one? Don't want to split it. Please vote and why? Thanks.

I enjoyed both immensely. I spent 7 days in Budapest and 6 days in Prague. I would choose Budapest if I had to make a choice. The most beautiful city in Europe with enough to do and see for several weeks. Any specific questions feel free to email me.<BR>Regards,<BR>Art<BR><BR>

I would say the reverse. I loved Budapest, but the people were VERY unfriendly, and it was raining the whole time I was there (which of course is out of your and my control!) I had a blast in Prague, and wished I could've stayed there much longer. But I'm leaving for there tonight - so I'm excited! I'll let you know what I think (It's been four years since my last trip) this time. Prague is a magical city with tons of things to do. Granted, when I went I was 18 and enjoying the clubs, the backpackers, and the absithe. So, depending on your age I could see wanting a little more out of it than that! Despite those factors, I love Prague. Go there!

Been to both within the past 2 years. I would vote Prague, although it's close... THe person's comment about th people in Budapest (not being very fiendly)-I also experienced. They are very introverted and don't find tourists chit chat amusing or enjoyable. Prague was very cheap and there were many more neat things to buy (crystal, garnets galore), and food was not as heavy. We ate like kings for dirt cheap. Budapest is a lot more depressed, they are still rebuilding/renovating after the fall of Iron Curtain (Prague was untouched, physically, by WWII). We stayed at U Tri Pstrosu Hotel, right at base of Charles (?) bridge, close to Prague castle-great place (3-4 stars) and good restaurant. Order an appertif once in a while, they really seemed to like it when you do that. Enjoy!!<BR><BR>

I was in both 2 yrs ago, 7 days in Budapest and 6 in Prague. I loved both, but would choose Budapest. There is a lot more to see and is the most beautiful city in Europe It is much larger than Prague, but the transportation is fantastic. You can get a 7 day pass for under $10 US. This pass is good for the Metro(underground), trolleys and busses. I found the people to be extremely friendly there and all over Hungary. Last fall, driving from Romania through Hungary, we stopped in a small town on the way to Pecs to ask directions and a gentleman heard me asking. When I got back to the car, he pulled up and motioned for us to follow him. He led us through town and got us on the correct road then turned around to go back. The food is very good and quite inexpensive. We had dinner with our host (whom I had stayed with 2 years ago) at a very nice restraint for about $10.00/person.<BR><BR>

I lived in Budapest for four years. I found the city fascinating, the food tasty and cheap, though it is very fatty, the transport system excellent, and the cultural and entertainment attractions many and varied, BUT...I have to agree with two previous posters, the people are rather unfriendly. Pity.
