Budapest-Marriott or Hilton West End
 

Hi,<BR>We have a choice between the Marriott in Budapest or the newer Hilton, the Hilton West End. Which would you recommend? We are a family of 4 with two teenage sons. Thanks for your advise.<BR>Suzanne

We have stayed at the Marriott in Budapest twice and it is absolutely the best.<BR><BR>It won Marriott of the year in the late 90's and it is deserving. Magnificent rooms, friendly staff, excellent restaurants, great location on the Danube right down from the Chain Bridge.<BR><BR>I cannot reccommend it highly enough!<BR><BR>Tom

The Marriott is along the river in Pest, centrally located, and a first-class property. The Hilton West End may be fine, and is convenient to a train station (and a new shopping center), but is not nearly as well situated for most vacationing travellers.

I concur with the advice above. The locatation of the Marriott is probably preferred by most tourists. You are on the Danube with great views to the Castle district and walking distance to many of the sites. the Hilton is probaly nice, good location to a mall, but further away from most of the tourist sites. <BR>I would differ with one advice though. the hotel is well appointed, with good service, but an eyesore from the exterior. You will love Budapest. As I mentioned in another posting, if you stay at the Marriott, make sure you hit the afternoon dessert buffet. It is remarkable and only about 5usd.

The Marriott is perfectly located with great views from all the rooms. And, as one poster mentioned, the best part is that the Marriott itself is NOT part of your view ;)<BR><BR>As of summer 2000 there was a Thai restaurant just down the corso from The Marriott -- not bad food and great views also!

It sounds like a slam dunk! We'll keep the Marriott reservation and cancel the Hilton.<BR>Thanks for your input! Can't wait for that dessert buffet!<BR>Suzanne

Hi Suzanne, Did you go to Hungary yet? I hope you and your family enjoyed it there if you went already. I 'm trying to get my 16 year old son to go with next year! Did your boys enjoy the trip? Also how was your hotel? Did you stay at the Marriott? if you did a trip report I'd love to read it. Thank you, I can't wait to go back to Hungary. ALice
