Is it easy to get a taxi from the IC to go to the train station? Are taxis easily available or do I need to arrange this with in advance? This will be on a weekday in the morning.

Yes, taxi's are readily available and I'm sure the front desk can help arrange this for you.

When I had an early morning flight out of Budapest, I had my hotel schedule a pickup for me.

I just returned from Budapest. We stayed a few blocks from the Inter Continental. When we needed a taxi, we asked the front desk to call one and it always arrived within 5 minutes or so. I didn't notice, but there may also be taxis in front of your hotel; in any event, you won't have any problems.

Taxis are unregulated in Budapest, and so each taxi or taxi company can charge whatever rates they want. The major five star hotels typically affiliate with a small group of taxis/limos that charge quite high rates (for very comfortable cars driven by drivers who speak excellent english); but you can also ask the desk to call you a taxi from one of the less expensive major companies - we use City Taxi (+36 1 211 1111) - and they are reliable and quite affordable (likely 1000 HUF from the IC to Keleti, or thereabouts, without much traffic)

Thanks for all the replies, I had emailed the IC to inquire after I started this thread. The cost for a transfer was 25 euros, I kid you not.

Why don't you walk the 4-5 minutes to Deak Ferenc ter where the Metro M2 stops and takes you to Keleti pu in a few minutes? Much cheaper and you won't have *that* much luggage, eh?

We stayed at the Marriott. The taxi they arranged for us was $15 to the Keleti train station. I believe it was City Taxi.
