Budapest Hotels

I need suggestions for a 3 or 4 star hotel in Budapest in a central location. Has anyone stayed at the Best Western Art Hotel? Does it matter if it is on the Buda or Pest side?

Marriott Millenium Court Executive Suites.

I asked for a river view (limited qty).

Large double suite with breakfast included. Directly between the River and Vaci Ut.

10 minute (max) walk to the Chain bridge.

Cannot recoomend it more. The only thing - try to get price quoted in forint (local currency). They quoted us in Euros but charged in the local currency.

I'm leery of each currency exchange that somebody else does.

Has anybody ever stayed at the Hilton on the Buda side?

I'm going there on the August 3rd for one night.

The Hilton is on a fantastic location around the Matyas Church and you can go through a very nice park to Pest side or to just stroll along the Chain Bridge. Ask for a room with an unobstructed view of the river and the Parliament. Rooms are pretty large here and there's even a non-smoking wing. Unfortunately though, when I stayed there, I had to pass through the club lounge -- where smoking is permitted -- in order to get to my room!

My husband and I stayed (for business) at the Hotel Mercure Korona, and, while I don't know the star rating, it was definitely an enjoyable stay. (Indeed, we were there for multiple weeks, and the room was fine, location was good, and breakfast, though not included in the regular price, was quite varied and tasty.)

I have also booked a stay for friends at the City Hotel Matyas. They will be there this weekend and back with us at the end of the week, so I'll let you know what they think.

Based on my extended visit, I would say that it is preferable to stay on the Pest side if you want to do a lot of sightseeing off of Castle Hill. It is much more central, especially if you stay near Vaci ut. or Andrassy ut.

I'll check back after I hear my friends' reaction to their hotel. :) --MP

You could try one of these three and four star hotels in Budapest: Amadeus Hotel***, Ambra Club Hotel***, Aquarius Hotel****, Atlantic Hotel***, Berlin Hotel***, Best Western Grand Hotel Hungaria****, Best Western Hotel Art***, Best Western Hotel Lido and Wellness Center****. I found many others listed at http://indexofhotels.com/ctry-Hungary-Budapest.htm, if you want to search for other Budapest hotels. They give you the contact information of the hotel, if you decide to make a reservation or ask about availability and prices. Hope that helps you!
