Budapest - District?

What is your favourite district in Budapest to stay? 3 friends visiting for 3 full days in September. Easy access to principal sites and restaurants wanted.

We liked the Buda Castle District - where the Hilton is.

We stayed at the Marriott and found it to be very well located.

We liked the Buda side. Have stayed at the Hilton twice, book a room with a river view.

We stayed at the Corinthia Hotel and just loved it. We had an Executive room which allowed us access to the Executive Lounge where they served breakfast with espressos & cappucinos; afternoon tea with champagne; and evening desserts.

We were able to buy tram tickets and use the tram to get around, or they would get us a cab when we needed it. This hotel also has an amazing pool & spa. We were so spoiled it was hard to leave.

We also took a 2-day tour with Travel Guide Hungary (4 hrs/day for two days).

Our tour guide, Orsolya, was amazing. She narrated the tour while Michael drove. We saw all the major sites in Budapest in 2 days and had time to go back to some that we wanted to see again, and see others that weren't on the tour.

we like the buda side and specifically, adore the hotel victoria. it has a tram that goes right in front, making it easy to get anywhere. best of all, all the rooms (i think) have full length windows facing the river, bridge, and parliament. reasonably priced.

having said that, there is more action (restaurants, coffee shops, music, etc.) on the other side... but it's all easy to get to.

Great feedback, thank you. Halfapair, we will hire a guide so that URL is very helpful, thanks.

Any apartment recommendations?

We were only in Budapest once and stayed near the Synagogue.

An armed guard on the outside.

Loved it on the Buda side.

A little info inyourpocket.com/budapest

I thought I had posted to this. Apparently not.

I much prefer the Pest side. Better transport and accommodation and restaurant options, plus you get to admire the view of Buda.

I highly recommend these apartments - I've stayed in two of them

i listed my strong hotel recommendation above. you want an apartment rather than a hotel?

joannyc Jun 19th, 2016 06:21 PM

I liked the full service Marriott on the Pest side. Great view of the river and the Buda Castle district, Chain Bridge, etc. from the room. Lots of close by options for dining, site seeing, shopping, etc. And, they have an excellent Executive Lounge!

Saving for a trip we just booked in 2017 starting in Budapest. I was going to ask this same question...and here it is!

BowenLinda Jun 19th, 2016 08:06 PM

Thursday, I came across those in a search - they look interesting, thank you.

Kawh, we mix up holidays with both hotels and 3 bed apartments depending on what wows us. Will be going to Prague & Vienna first. If you have an apartment recommendation, would appreciate receiving that as well.

DebitNM Jun 20th, 2016 03:39 AM

I understand wanting an apartment because you have 3 people and 1 hotel room might be tight quarters, but personally, I prefer a hotel for stays of less than 5 nights. Sometimes the fees [cleaning] make the per night cost too high since there are fewer nights spent in apartment. Just my 2 euros/ents...
