Budapest Airport - Public Transportation?
 

Hello all. I am flying into Budapest next month and I am trying to see what my transit options are for getting from the airport into the city. We have to make several trips to the airport so we'd prefer public transportation rather than paying the surcharge for our hotel's airport shuttle.

We are renting an apartment near the Kálvin tér metro station, which looks like it offers the M3 and M4 lines. Is it possible for us to travel to/from the airport from this location?

It's been a couple of years since I've done it, but the information on the website indicates it's still the same.

You can get an integrated transport ticket from the Post Office in the airport that allows you to use all Budapest's buses, trains, trams etc - we found this to be the easiest way.

From the Airport, you need to catch bus 200E which takes you (eventually) to the metro station (Kőbánya-Kispest)from where you take the metro into the city. This is the M3 line, so it goes directly to Kálvin tér.

A caveat: The journey is quite long. I seem to remember at least 30 minutes on the bus, slightly less on the metro - but overall maybe just over an hour. The bus also got quite crowded.

The Budapest Public Transport Company(BKK) has an office on the arrival level of the Terminal 2A, just to the right of the exit. You can buy all kinds of tickets and passes.
The bus 200E stops between the 2A and 2B Terminals.
