Budapest Accommodation

Me and my husband will be disembarking at Port address, Mahart International, Petofi Bridge, (Pest side) after completing a Viking River Cruise. I need help in finding hotel accommodation in Budapest for one night on July 10th. Can anyone help in giving us a name of a good clean resonably priced hotel? Thank you, Norman and Angela |
Norman... The best priced hotel that I've been able to come up with is the Ibis Hotel on Dozsa Gyorgy Ut. It's on the north end of the blue metro line #3 at the Dozsa Gyorgy metro stop . It's about due east of the middle of Margit Island if you have the public transportation map. Try this site:
www.budapestpanorama.com/maps/Bpkozlekedes.jpg It's about $75-$80 USD for a double, and although small, the rooms are clean and they have a good inexpensive bar/restaraunt. They are a chain and I've stayed at he one outside of London at Heathrow. If you get off the boat near the Petofi bridge, then I don't think it's too far to walk/taxi over to the Ferenc Krt metro stop on the blue line #3 metro. For a few dollars more you can find a Ramada Budapest Hotel at Tompa utca 30-34 that just opened. If you are an AARP member you can get a double room on special for about 80 Euro's a night. It's fairly close to the Petofi bridge in the Ferencvaros district. Neither of these hotels includes breakfast in the prices I gave you, but they look like good bets. Let me know how it works out if you do decide to stay at either one. We'll be visiting Budapest in September for a week and I'd like to hear some feedback before I book my rooms..good luck and I hope this helps. Mike Sullivan |

Thank you very much for your response. We have not yet booked hotel accommodation, reason?, we were hoping we could fly home on the day of dis-embarkation. As of today, we have not been successful. Therefore, we will probably stay at the Marriott which is on the Pest side for a few dollars more. Have to check their prices and make reservations accordingly. Thank you once again, and good luck with your visit in September. Wish we could stay for a week. The Euro is getting expensive for us to travel to Europe anymore, just got back from Amsterdam a month ago, spent over a US$1,000 staying for three nights hotel, after a Tulips cruise, for meals and museum tickets, etc., We have one more cruise in September Berlin/Prague and that will be it for a while because of the currency exchange rate. I just returned from a conference in Budapest and can recommend the Hotel Pest. It is in an 18th century building, but has large, modern rooms that open up into a beautiful interior courtyard. The hotel is just off Andrassy Ut, very close to the opera house, and is a 15 minute walk from the Danube. It is also close to a pedestrian street with many restaurants (along Andrassy towards Octagon Square). The price is very reasonable (I had a conference rate of 75 Euros, but I think the standard price is about 100 Euros a night). The web site is http://www.hotelpest.hu/. The hotel management is very friendly and helpful.

Look into the Hotel Gellert - rates around $75 per night with breakfast, baths are located in the building and it is within walking distance of the river cruise ships.

We stayed in the Hotel Fortuna last March(actually a Botel). Rooms were great, restaurant was amazing. The price was 15000 HUF (about $70).
