Budapest - a fool to miss
Are there any specific places I would be a fool to miss when i'm in Budapest(including possible places that could be reached by taking a day trip). I don't know when i'll be back in this area, and I don't want to miss anything nearby. I have 4 or 5 days there in august.

there is soooo much information for you and your question will be answered, and then some. |
Hi w,
Have you looked up Budapest under "Destinations"? ((I)) |
I know there's an easier way to find out, but what is your email address travelboybudapest?

Sent you an email now to you address. Hope you got it :)

my email is [email protected]
i did not receive an email from you my friend. thanks for the help. We'll have a few days in Budapest and i'm not sure what we'll do. I always visit the main square and go from there. I think the way to go is check out a tour book and pick the things i'm interested in, then maybe i'll write to you and get your advice...i'll be looking for a hostel as well... |
Hi jason,
our only experience of Budapest was in winter, so ratehr different from august. However, the main things we enjoyed were going up to the old town [lots of interesting buildings, museums, cafes, plus the fisherman's bastion up there] lizst's house, and the opera. we also went to a concert of traditional music and dance that our hotel told us about which was very good. in summer, a trip out to the nearby wine area would be fun - there's a thread about that here on fodors - just search the forum. best of luck - it's a very interesting place. regards, ann |
Hey again! Tried sending you an email now from two different addresses. Anyway, my emailaddress is: picassobrumm (a) hotmail.com
One of my personal favorites is the St. Stephens Basilica (with free entrance) in addition to the ones I have already mentioned. |
Great places to visit in/or nearby Budapest? Any personal stories/experiences welcome...

There are many places to visit in Budapest: the most popular are of course the Heroes' Square (and behind it the City Park), the Andrassy Avenue (with the State Opera House), the St. Stephan's Basilica, the Downtown of Pest (Pedestrian Street, Old Market Hall, Parlament) and the Castle District on the Buda side.
