Budapest

Arriving by train in Budapest for 2 nights in May. Where is a good location for moderately priced hotel for female traveling alone?

You can try the Bellevue B&B. If you make the reservation in advance (the owners are fluent in English), they'll tell you how to get transportation from the airport to their place.

As a woman alone I would prefer to be down on the busier Pest side. The Buda side at night seems a bit "quiet" for me and taxis up to there cost quite a bit more.

You can fidn plenty of suggestions by doing a search here. Budapest is one of my favorite cities.

Don't miss "Spoon Café" at night for dinner with the fabulous view fo the Chain Bridge. Then ask them to call a taxi for you to give you an evening tour of the town.. unforgettable! Or take the evening river cruise.

I was in Budapest last summer as a a female traveling alone. I stayed at the BudaB&B and loved it. Run by two American guys who literally wrote the book on Budapest,so very helpful. Here's their website. www.budabab.com/index.htm

Here's my photos of Budapest if you're interested. I wrote a trip report but can't seem to find it. www.pbase.com/annforcier/budapest

Gary, with a UK email address, I presume that you are writing from there. Please note that the Scots, the Welsh, and the Northern Irish are in your body politic: there is no "English Government".

Does the UK government have a list of premises in London's West End where I might be ripped off?
