Budapest

I'm thinking of staying at Kempinski Hotel Corvinus - 5* in Budapest or Thermál Hotel Aquincum Kft - 5* in Budapest or any other ideas?

Personally, I prefer the Hilton Executive Floor with the views of the Danube but it sounds as if you've already made up your mind. Enjoy your trip.

I don't know the two hotels you named other than by reading about them, and according to every opinion they are both very nice. But I would also vote for the Executive Floor of the Budapest Hilton, for several reasons:
-view of the Danube
-special snacks and food all day
-exploring the excavated ruins of the old monastery beneath the hotel
-convenience to the National Art Gallery
-near Fisherman's Bastion
-near the incredible Matthias cathedral

I don't think any other place offer these nice advantages. Good luck.

The Hilton also offers an excellent tokay wine tasting in their cellar...very delicious and very atmospheric.

Cheers,

We stayed at the Kempinski last February and it was excellent. The location is in the center of town and only one half block to the metro. The aquicum is not centrally located.

Enjoy Budapest---we lived there for about 6 months a few years back.

We stayed in the Kempinski last February and it was excellent. A good location in the center city and one half block to the metro. The aquincum is very nice but away from from all the attractions. We spent 7 months in Budagpest a few years back and it is a delightful city and we were amazed at the changes we saw on our last trip especially in rspect to restoring the beautiful old buildings.

Kempinski is excellent right in the inner city and one half block from Metro. Acquinum is located out from the city and basically by itself. We stayed at Kempinski last March and found it excellent. We were in Budapest fro around 7n months afew years back and it is a gerat city have fun

I agree with many of the other posters who recommend the Budapest Hilton.

I would pick it for location and the beautiful views of the Danube, over the Kempinski Corvinus.

It is adjacent to the Chain Bridge, which is beautifully lit at night. You have views across the Danube to the Buda side, which sits on a rocky ledge above the river.

The tram, which runs along the riverside, stops not more than 100 feet from the Hilton's side door. Vaci Utca and the metro is about 1 1/2 blocks away.

The Kempinski is probably a "more upscale" hotel, but it sits on a pedestrian shopping street--no views of the sights for which Budapest is memorable.

The Kempinski has the more central location. Getting to and from the Hilton in the castle district does take a bit of time, although it is obviously close to things in that district.

The Hilton of which Georgine writes is NOT the same as the one in the castle district. Also, it is 1 1/2 blocks from Vaci ut, not Vaci utca.

If you are a US citizen, you should check the web site of the US Embassy - Budapest before booking the Aquincum Corinthia.
