Buckingham Palace Tour Pass

We have special passes for the interior Buckingham Palace tour while it is open for eight weeks. Has anyone else done this tour? Also, can we take pictures or film video? What is the best time of day for the tour? Thanks!

No photography or cell phones in the Palace. They are allowed in the garden.

As far as I know - all tickets are time-specific - so do you mean you have a voucher that must be exchanged for an actual timed ticket? The time of day really makes not much difference. I'd personally go in the morning so it wouldn't conflict w/ atfternoon/evening plans. But really no difference morning or afternoon.

I've been twice and the State Rooms are just as ornate and grand as one would expect. No, you cannot take any photos. I believe they do now allow a few minutes for photos in the gardens after leaving the house. The first few years of the tours you could only walk directly out the side exit from the gardens - but I understand you are now allowed a bit of time in the Gardens.

We took the palace tour in summer of '05. It was a spectacular place to see. You will love it.

It seemed very well organized. When you arrive, you are put in a group, then you just wait for your turn.

We did not feel rushed at all. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

You exit into the gardens. Very beautiful and large.

I can't remember what time we went but it seems like afternoon. I think any time would be great if you are able to snatch a ticket!

Happy travels!

Thanks a bunch! :) Yes, we have vouchers to exchange for passes. I'm really looking forward to it.

My daughter and I went on this tour at the first of this month. We enjoyed it. I could live there...provided I had the servants and a few comfy chairs with footrests in the private quarters (which of course we didn't get to see). :-) The time entry is for the Queen's Gallery. When we went they said that I could go through the palace and the mews at any time I wanted within their operating hours (they even suggested we wait on the palace to see the changing of the guard after the gallery, but we heard that wasn't that big a deal so we skipped that in favor of sliding through the house with hopefully a smaller crowd) but if I missed my time stamp on the Queen's Gallery, I couldn't go on that section of the tour. We went pretty early in the morning--I think I purchased tickets for 15 minutes after the first entry time. We were done a little after noon and we skipped the mews, so it does take a couple of hours. As someone else mentioned, you can't take pictures or video in the palace, but you can on the back veranda into the gardens. I hope you enjoy it.

Kellye: I'm a little confused by your post. The Queen's Gallery and Royal Mews have their own entrances separate from the entrance to the tour of the Palace/State Rooms. One can go to the Mews and Queen's Gallery any time year round. Has nothing to do w/ the summer opening of the Palace.

My guess is your timed ticket was for the Palace and they said you could go to the Mews and Gallery any time.
