Brussels to Cochem (Mosel valley) best way to travel

Hello,

I am traveling from Brussels to Cochem (Mosel valley - Germany) end of this month. Checked out the fares on Eurorail and the price per person is coming to EUR 120.
Are there any passes or discount cards that anyone can suggest? Look forward to help from the fodorites..

Thanks a lot.

Which is your staring point in Brussels?
I get Brussels airport to Cochem at 74 E and Bruxelles-Lux to Cochem at 65.90 E at
www.bahn.com. These may be advance purchase tickets for a specific train (ie, nonrefundable if you miss it).
Otherwise a 5 day 2nd class Benelux pass comes in at $315 per person...

I would be traveling from Brugges to Brussels and then to Cochem.

Try Brussels - Koeln (3 months in advance, 19 euros per person), then Koeln - Cochem (don't know how much it is). I'm pretty sure that's way less than 120 euros per person.

Vins: I provided a response to this question on your other thread. Here it is again; not sure the prices are still good now:

120€ is an inflated price.
Bruges - Cochem on 6/29:

Go to http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

Buy 2 tickets online from Bruges(B) to Cochem(Mosel) The price is currently 59€ each for a discount ticket for the 8:58 departure (train-specific.) There's another departure at 12:58 for 74€ each.

Russ, checked out your recommendation.. Yes it is coming out to 118 for all of us..

I am a little unclear on reservation.. While booking how do I know whether the train needs a reservation or no?

Also the site mentions "Family reservation for all passengers together 8,00 EUR (for max. 2 trains in each direction). Bruges to Cochem involves a travel across 4 trains - does that mean I need 2 reservations.. How do I make 2 reservations?

Thanks

No reservation is required unless on the itinerary results page you see an "R" in a grey box under the "Products" column for your departure.
