Brussels suggestion needed
We plan on doing a day trip to Brussels from Paris. We will only be in Paris for 6 days arriving Wednesday morning. Looking for suggestions on what day to go to Brussels...we were thinking Friday or Saturday. Also, do you have any suggestions on things to do or places to eat in Brussels? Thank you.

Why go to Brussels if you have no idea why you want to go there? Why don't you go someplace that you want to go to?

You'll have a great time in beautiful Brussels. Taking the train up would be very easy; then wander around the old town, especially the "Grand Place," which will make your jaws drop. You'll find a wide variety of spectacular casual restaurants, including lots of "moules et frites" (mussels and french fries) places. Fodors can tell you about museums, churches, etc.

Visit the big fine arts museum ... name escapes me now, maybe it's just Royal Museum of Fine Arts. Anyway, very good.

Did you check out Fodor's suggestions for a 1-day itinerary?
http://www.fodors.com/miniguides/mgr...;feature=30003 If you like art, you should not miss the Royal Museums of Art - which is a combo of 2 museums (Ancient & Modern) and comprises of art from 15th through 20th century. Or if you like architecture, check out Musee Horta. I don't know what your budget is for food there, but if you want the best, then you should try Comme Chez Soi - the only restaurant in Brussels with 3 Michelin stars. If you want mussels & fries, try Chez Leon. I recently ate at Belga Queen - very nice interior (a former bank) - but a bit pricey. I think lunch there is cheaper though. http://www2.resto.be/belgaqueen |
