Brussels or Ghent??

My parents and I have decided to add Belgium to out trip since we found out my dad has two extra weeks of vacation. We decided to go to Bruges for two days and want to hit either Brussels or Ghent. I am leaning towards Brussles, because I feel like I will be Canaled out. Which would you choose for things to do and see? Thanks!!

You don't say how long? Or what your interests are?

Without knowing these details, I would pick Brussels. Here is a thread with lots of good suggestions

Ghent is only a short train ride from Brussels if you decide you want to spend some time there.

I have NO idea what you are looking for.

Why don't you see what sights are in each city and come back here with a more focused and specific question?

It definitely depends what you like. I stayed 4 days in Brussels and 5 days in Ghent last fall and much preferred Ghent. I like a slower pace, smaller city, and Ghent fit the bill. There were wonderful restaurants, great shops, interesting architecture and really nice people.

I enjoyed the hop on hop off bus in Brussels, visiting the Atomium, the feel at the Grand Place, and the food.

Both places are nice, but I'd go to Ghent again in a heartbeat.

Me? I'd skip Bruges and Brussels except for a day trip to each and stay in Antwerp and Ghent.

Between the two I much prefer Ghent for the reasons Ruby99 states.

And I liked Brussels because it is a bigger city with more going on There are lots of great bars in Brussels and live music seems to be everywhere on the weekends - we were out to about 3am one night, and we basically just followed our ears all night from one bar to the next.
