Brussels or Bruges?

You can go to only one, which will it be?

Have been to both and they were both unforgettable. If I had to choose I guess I would have to say Brussels.
The Grand Place, Royal Palace & Cathedral's were wonderful, as well as all the outdoor markets & cafe. If u choose the medieval town of Bruges make sure to visit the 'church of blood' it was a site I will never forget.

Also, I have been to both BUT I would choose Bruges. I guess my question would be what are you looking for? The two are NOT the same. Bruges is a small, walled medival city, and Brussels is like going to New York City. It's huge and hard to drive in. Bruges you can walk.

Living in Belgium myself I would suggest Brugge because it is very typical and much more relax than Brussels.

Bruges is a gem. Brussels did not do much for me at all -- another big city. And driving in Brussels is difficult. It would help if you gave us an idea of your interests.

Thanks for replying. Well, my trip will take me from London, to Paris, to ?, and then on to Amsterdam. The question mark is either Bruges or Brussels. That's my debate really. I am imagining that since I will be in London and Paris already, Bruges would be a nice change of pace. I like the sound of old, walled, and walkable. Thanks everyone!

Oh yeah, how about a charming or unique hotel in Bruges for two students with about a 90 dollar USD budget? Any recommendations?
