Brussels midi and Amsterdam C
 
Are these the names of the city centers ? I am trying to book train tickets. I wants to travel from Amsterdam (central) to Brussels (as close as possible to the city center). Is Brussels midi the right choice? I don't want to go to the airport. Please advice.

Brussels Central is the station near Grand'Place in Brussels. But trains to Amsterdam may leave from Midi. Don't worry though -- there're very, very frequent trains between Central and Midi and it's a five-minute ride.

We took Thalys from Paris to Brussels and arrived at Brussels Midi station. Took a tram (above ground-not the subway) to the Grand Place from the train station.

There're train connections also. I used the train rather than the tram.

But really, it's very easy to get between the two.

Your Amsterdam Thalys train will stop only at Bruxelles-Midi. This is not the case with SNCB trains, which may stop at Bruxelles Nord or Gare Centrale. From whatever station you disembark, you can hop off and catch a train to Bruxelles Centrale, very close to city centre. All in all, it's about a three minute ride.
